The minimal edition

Astur Lite — tiling in ~1 MB.

The lean core of Astur as a single portable exe: Left Alt move/resize, dwindle and master tiling, workspaces, a per-monitor status bar, and smooth animations. No installer, no background service — just the window manager.

  • One ~1 MB exe. Run it from anywhere, including a USB stick.
  • Text config (.conf) you control. Hot-reloads on save.
  • Minimal memory. The console window is its control surface.

Mouse

Alt-drag anywhere

Hold Left Alt and drag from any point in a window. Right-drag resizes from the nearest corner.

Layout

Dwindle or master tiling

Spiral dwindle by default, or master layout for a main area plus stack, across up to 10 workspaces.

Per-monitor status bar

Workspace pills, focused title, clock, and optional date / CPU / RAM / battery widgets.

Motion

Smooth animations

Composited workspace and window animations — the same motion polish as the full edition.

Config

Text config, hot-reloaded

Two commented .conf files in %USERPROFILE%\.astur\; edits apply on save.

Runtime

One tiny exe

A native Rust binary, ~1 MB, no installer or service. Quit with Ctrl+C in its console.

Quick start

Run Astur Lite in under a minute.

Download

Get the Windows x64 exe from GitHub Releases. Astur Lite is Windows 10/11 only.

Run

Double-click the exe. A small console window opens; Left Alt is the modifier.

Quit

Press Ctrl+C in the console (windows are restored). For a tray icon and settings GUI, use the full Astur.
